OMG! Am I the only one who has a time taming the "squirrels at the rave party"??? Do you know what I mean? I start something and THEN, start something MORE important. Before I know it, I'm sitting on the floor, with all my squirrels, looking at old pics and reminiscing about the "good ole days".
So, I'm going to share 5 of my squirrel-taming secrets with you today. I've been an organizer since the age of 9, and as I've gotten older I've noticed that it takes more concentration and focus to finish tasks at hand. Personally, I think as we get older, life just makes the squirrels BIGGER and they're harder to ignore, especially the ones that know your name. Ever had a day where you wanted to change your name so that you can get something accomplished?
Top 5 Squirrel-taming secrets:
Make a list of to-do's and separate it by personal, work, home business, school, etc. Decide which tasks need to be completed first and set time limits to get tasks completed. I set reminders on my phone.
Remove all distractions. If you're working from home, you might need to put all the kids, and significant others on the porch for a couple of hours, OR you can close the office door. Furbabies can stay, but they must have their own designated area to supervise and ensure you're working the whole time.
Delegate tasks when possible. Something as simple as chores or hiring someone that specializes in a given task will save you precious TIME to focus on other tasks. At the end of the day, you'll be able to check more boxes off as COMPLETED! That's such a great feeling!
Organize and decorate your office space for success! It's hard to concentrate on a task when a pile of papers is acting like the Eiffel tower. When decorating, choose decor that makes your "soul smile" such as motivational artwork, opinionated pillows for your office chair, books that help you focus, and let there be plenty of natural light!
Be AWARE of the Rabbit HOLE. If you find yourself going down the rabbit hole of the internet, be AWARE, close the web page, and go back to working on your task. The rabbit hole will suck HOURS out of your day, and make productivity practically non-existent. Speaking from experience!
